A Korean-American man was assaulted by a stranger at Chase bank in Gardena.
The incident happened on April 21st at around 11:45am when Mini Cursion Yong-woo Chung, 64, was assaulted by a black male at Gardena Chase branch on Artesia Blvd., left him severely injured on his left eye, as you may see on the picture.
According to Chung, who runs a small business, visited the bank to make a cash deposit, and suddenly, the suspect burst into the bank, started to making a scene by yelling and throwing stuffs, and eventually approached to Chung and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
Chung was immediately rushed to the hospital, and got treated, but he is still struggling with his left-side vision due to the injury. According to Gardena Police Department, the suspect fled the scene, but arrested near the bank, and underwent a mental health evaluation.
According to Chung, there was no bank security at the time of the incident.
